Don’t worry, this isn’t a post on diets or fads or other gimmicks.
I simply just want to point out some simple truths and observations that may help you. Or may not. You take what you want. 😉
Have you ever wondered why some people can get away with eating full fat cream, whole milk, avocados, and heaps of ice cream?
With the rise in obesity all over the world, some people are managing to dodge the obesity “bullet.”
I’ve traveled all over the world and trust me, people EVERYWHERE are facing the same health problems as in the USA.
Heart disease, cancer, obesity, and diabetes are just a few health nightmares that plague us all.
Statistics don’t have to prove the facts (although they do). Just look at a yearbook from the 1940s or even the ’70s. Quite a bit different from today.
All health practitioners, doctors, dietitians, and gurus in the field will tell you the #1 reason we see poor health all across the globe is poor diet and low exercise (Source).
Eureka! We’ve solved it. Just work on the diet and exercise, right?
Ya, right. Ever tried to be “really good” about your diet and “really good” about exercise. New year’s resolutions never worked for me either.
The Diet Roller-coaster
We’ve all been up and down the diet-exercise roller coaster. Let’s talk about what we can do to avoid the rolls (pun intended).
The #1 way to shed the extra fat and work towards curing your health ills is to regularly avoid toxins. Toxins come in all shapes and sizes. Preservatives. Dyes. Colors. Weird chemicals. Too much sugar. Too much cortisol (stress hormone).
Basically, our bodies don’t know what the heck to do with these toxins so these toxins get stored in our fat cells (Good source by Dr. Mark Hyman [safe PDF]).
It’s like Hanford. Ever heard of the Hanford Site? It’s a mostly decommissioned nuclear production site. Extremely hazardous nuclear waste is COMPLETELY secured so no one on God’s great earth will go near it. The whole site is very, very secure. Leaky, but secure (well-guarded).
Our bodies behave very similarly. Toxins (chemicals our body cannot metabolize) are stored in the “Hanford Site” in our body, within the fat cells. The reason the fat cells store the toxins is to protect the body.
These toxins are “locked in” and the fat cells that store them do not normally get used.
Most toxins are stored in the mid-section and are very, very dangerous (Source). This is one reason it is so difficult to get rid of belly fat.
The #2 way to shed extra fat and work towards curing your health is a DETOX from these toxins. Your body will release the toxins from the fats cells given the right conditions. A detox cleanses the liver and promotes a healthy immune system. Our immune system is able to combat the toxins.
In order to repair the immune system, we need to detox the toxins in the body (such as extra sugar, cortisol, chemicals).
A good detox focuses on these elements:
1. Cleanse the liver, kidneys, etc.
Drink lots of water, sweat a lot (work out or sauna), and avoid toxins based on the fact that they make your life miserable. Natural formulas for cleansing the liver are available in stores. Two great examples are curcumin and green tea.
2. Replenish your nutrients
Eat 7-9 servings of fruits and vegetables, take a good supplement full of micronutrients (be careful in picking a good one…message me if you are interested), and be consistent with vitamin D intake. Smoothies are a great option too. Here’s a great recipe.
3. Permanent behavior changes
Start to read ingredient labels. Be more concerned about what ingredients are in the food and less about the calories. Also, change your perception of food. Food nourishes the body and should not fill an emotional hole.
Find ways to channel the stressors in your life. Some people exercise, others journal, and others talk it out. Also, make sure to get enough sleep during the detox!
A typical detox can range from 2 weeks to 4 weeks and can be done every 4 months. During the detox you’re not just cleaning the liver. It’s a combination of all the 3 elements mentioned above.
After the detox your immune system should have been reset, and your body will be able to fight against dietary and environmental toxins. These toxins are what lead to health illnesses and obesity.

- Most of these foods are dangerous because of HEAVY processing and the dangerous chemicals involved in the processing. If you would like the evidence behind ALL of the items I have listed please read my post: Why the heck you should avoid these toxins.

3. Got rBST?
It’s not the full fat cream, whole milk, avocados, and heaps of ice cream that contribute to obesity.
It’s the toxicity in the body.
The key to staying thin while still having your cake is based on two principles:
1. Be consistent with trying to avoid toxins in your diet/environment and educate yourself on what the toxins do to your body.
2. Do a detox every 3-4 months because it is very helpful in reducing chemical stress to the body and inadvertently, makes it easier to shed the “stubborn” fat in areas like the belly and butt. Unless you like that kind of thing. Good health is the priority anyhow.
Please share below on how you detox your body from dietary or environmental toxins.
As always, consult with your doctor before you start to alter your health, even if you think it’s for the better. Read my medical disclaimer for more info. I recommend seeing naturopath doctors because they prescribe less medications (which often lead to more health issues and crappy side effects).
